I received the following e-mail today from amazon.com.( see below) I would like to know if a person can be legally banned from shopping at a web store for making returns over the course of many years. I thought that I can purchase and return anything I please. At times I have found items at cheaper prices and returned that items purchased at amazon.com for the course of 7 years. And at times I have simply changed my mind. Do I have any recourse ? Can I sue ?

Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

"My name is Eric Layne and I am part of Amazon.com's Executive Customer
Relations group at our corporate offices. One of my group's mandates
is to address the most acute account and order problems, and in this
capacity your account and orders have been brought to my attention.

A careful review of your account indicates that you have required
refunds on a large majority of your orders for a variety of reasons.

In the normal course of business, the occasional problem is
inevitable. The rate at which such problems have occurred on your
account is extraordinary, however, and cannot continue. Effective
immediately, your Amazon.com account is closed and you are no longer
able to shop in our store. I am very sorry for any disappointment
this may cause.

Please know that any accounts related to yours have also been closed.
If you were to open a new account, the same will result and it will
also be closed. In the event that you attempt to do so, we will not
accept the return of any additional orders, nor will we issue further
refunds in connection with any future orders. We appreciate your
cooperation in refraining from using our web site.

If you require additional assistance, or have any concerns, feel free
to contact me directly at [email protected].

Please do not contact regular Customer Service again, as they will no
longer be able to assist you.

You have no legal recourse here. Sorry. Amazon.com is within their legal rights to ban you from shopping for items on their site.

Of course they can not do business with you for any reason, or no reason, as long as it's not a prohibited reason. (race, religion, etc.) Serial returners are increasingly being denied the right to return at brick and morter stores let alone on the internet.

You have no suit. They are losing money on you and they don't want it to continue. You will find similar treatment increasingly common anywhere you "shop".
