Slander?

What is the name of your state? Indiana

My partner's ex-wife has been calling me colorful names, which I can handle however, she is now saying lies about me to my partner via text messaging. She claims she has my divorce decree and that she is going to take my partner back to court because I am an unfit mother and she can prove it. I do not have custody of my son for personal reasons, none of which are because or due to me being an unfit mother. My partner has custody of his son because she couldn't pass a drug test when their son was a baby. These hurtful things she is saying is causing emotional issues for myself. I want nothing from her other than to leave me out of her problems, what can I do? I really didn't want to sue her for slander but at this point, I'm not sure if I have any other options.

Defamation:

This question has been asked 7,490,138.5 times on this forum.

I am keeping track.

Get a lawyer.

Spend 3 years (if it is quick) and $30K (if it is cheap) to see if you have a case.

If you win, nothing will change.

If you lose, nothing will change.

What are your damage$? Does your partner believe his ex? Have you sought medical treatment due to the "emotional issues"?
