What is the name of your state? Kansas

I have a collection of handwritten notes. If I publish them, and someone is slandered in one of the notes, can I be held responsible?

I assume that the answer is "Yes" but I'd like a little background on how this would be viewed legally, if possible.

Depends entirely on the contents of the notes, who made them, what is said, in what context.

For argument's sake, let's say that the note, written by Person A, said:

Don't trust Person B...he's a liar.
-Person A

Is that still too vague?
