Hey guys I need some help here please. Any information on this would be great. So a couple weeks ago I started playing this stupid online game. I'll try and make this as short as possible. I got into an argument with one of the admins of the forums. Couple days later my Facebook and E-mail were stolen, they had changed my passwords as well. They sent naked pictures of a man ( I'm not sure if it was them) to a bunch of my friends, my family, even my little 12-year-old sister. They sent them to past teachers, future employers, everyone. Also, they made a fake Craigslist "men seeking men" ad where I live and posted pictures from my Facebook onto it. Now mind you I have had a Facebook for three years, E-mail for about 5, used the same password for both (stupid i know) and used the same password for virtually every password. Now it gets stolen? I did not know who it was until I was checking the game forums to maybe look for some evidence, and the admins and some other people were making Jokes about information they could have ONLY obtained from my Facebook. Place of employment, school, activities, etc. I know it was the game admin and the game creator without a doubt. Someone had responded to their fake "men seeking men" ad and they kept telling them to come into the clothing store I worked at and do inappropriate things in the fitting rooms (I work in retail.) Then the SAME references on the forums. I know their names, where they live, where they work, etc. I found both of them on Facebook and i know it is them 100% with my research. I messaged them both about 3 days ago letting them know that i knew about their stunt: no response. I scared them because I told them I was going to the police i think. Can i take any legal action against them? Can the police trace the IP's of where i have logged into my Facebook from? I have my Facebook and E-mail back by the way, all of the messages i have still as well. I have screenshots of the references to my employer, the images they sent, everything. I want these ****ers to hang honestly. Please guys any help on this subject would be so much appreciated. Sorry so long! I can provide more information upon request if needed EDIT** I forgot to mention, One person I am trying to legally take action against lives in Ohio, the other lives in Georgia. Not sure if this is relevant or not.

The fact that the people you believe are involved with the creation of the Craigslist ad, and with the dissemination of photographs and false information about you to others, live in Georgia and in Ohio means that any legal action you may wish to consider taking against them will be costly.

Based strictly on what you have posted, however, it appears that you have the good basis for a suit.

Perhaps a strongly worded letter from an Oregon attorney, advising these "identified" individuals that you are considering taking legal action, will be enough to prevent any additional harm. First you will need to make sure that you have identified the culprits correctly, though, and this alone can be difficult.

Whether you consider the reputational injury you have suffered enough to invest additional time and money into pursuing the identified individuals, past the attorney-letter, is something you can decide better after taking your suspicions and the screenshots and your gathered evidence and all of the facts of your situation to an attorney in your area for a review.

Again, when you bring a legal action against an individual who resides in a different state, especially when you must verify first that this individual is in fact the one responsible for password theft and the publication of a false advertisement and mass mailings, the costs can be very high. You must carefully balance these costs against any benefits you may realize from a court action.

You will probably want to take the mailing of the naked photos received by your 12-year-old sister to the Oregon state police to investigate, but I recommend you consult with an attorney in your area first.

Good luck.

I'm not seeing anything about child pornography in your post.

I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue this, but anybody with half a brain who received those messages would realize your Facebook/email had been compromised.
