Ex Spouse and Life Insurance

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maryland
My husband and I recently divorced. We were married for approximately 10 years and I purchased life insurance for myself immediately after we married. I added my husband and my children onto the policy as riders. My husband's benefit was 1/2 of my benefit. He passed away a few months ago and I turned in the paperwork to file the claim. The insurance company paid out the full benefit to me since I was the beneficiary. Since then, a co-worker told me that they thought that once a person was divorced, the ex-spouse was no longer eligible to be insured with this company. My question - should I contact the insurance company to verify that they made payment to me correctly?

I'm not a lawyer, but as far as I can search, I can't find any Maryland statute that revokes or terminates life insurance or any death benefits upon divorce. Many other states do.
