We live in So. Calif. & purchased a house 2 years ago.The mortgage and insurance company went back & forth until both were satisfied with the homeowners policy -an HO3. Last week, the garage caved in. Come to find out, even though the company insures watercraft, they will not cover our off-road atv bikes. They won't even cover the spare parts to these bikes. One bike isn't even registered or runs. Then we find out that because the garage is Detached,we will not be covered for the full amount of that either - it is a seperate structure (10% of dwelling). It was NEVER suggested that we would need extra ins. for the garage. On the original app. there are no questions about garages. Can they get away with this? They never disclosed the info. It was overlooked by the company. We are underinsured. What is the point of having ins.? What are our rights regarding this?
