life insurance question

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nevada My father passed away and I was named executor of the estate and sole beneficary. While going thru his stuff I found a term life policy that was valid. When I inquired about the beneficary the insurance sent me forms aking for my mom's death cert. I told them she is alive and they have been divorced 43 years. The insurance co then told me she is the beneficary. This is cool with me cause she could aways use the money, but is this how it works in nevada? If so, I wouldn't want to be the one telling my dad, he would be pissed.

The state has nothing to do with it. If he named her as beneficiary, at some point in time he wanted her to have the money. Why do you say dad would be "pissed"? Tell your mother the name and address and phone number of the insurance company so she can contact them about it if they have not contacted her yet.
