i live in Ohio and began working for a bank in 2001. i became pregnant. as my due date approached i was instructed by my doctor that i should take my maternity leave. i called my company's human resources dept. to confirm that i was eligible for short term disability. i was told that i was covered. two days after delivery, i was told that i was actually 12 days short of my eligibility. i sent the decision to appeals and it was denied. my question is, is there any way to recover these lost wages. i was given incorrect information from human resources, but i was still denied due to their error.

I know what you are going through, because almost the same thing happened to me last year. I live in Ohio too and when I had to go on maternity leave early I was denied my short term disability also.

I talked with an attorney and appealed and it just got more and more complicated. I never did get anything accomplished and I was out an entire months worth of income even before I had the baby.

I wish you more luck than I had! Sorry that I can't really help though. I feel for you.
