| AB 205 Bill regarding CA Domestic Partnerships State? California
This bill becomes effective January 1, 2005 and will change many of the rights and responsibilities of Domestic Partners. One of the changes being that any child born during a domestic partnership will be the presumed child of the mother's partner.
My question is regarding our yet-to-be conceived child's birth certificate. We want my partner's name to appear on the birth certificate and from what we understand the new law makes that possible. Does this new law only apply to children conceived by anonymous donor sperm? Will a "known donor agreement," which acknowledges our donor's role in the child's conception, make it necessary for our donor to first waive his parental rights and give consent for my partner to adopt the child?
We hope to begin "trying" soon but want to have this detail ironed out first. Thanks in advance. |
