I've read in Arkansas, once a ncp parent goes 1 year with no visitation or contact, we can petition the court for parental rights to be removed. Can the ncp relinquish these rights before that year is up?
Also, I know that phone calls/letters from ncp would mean contact, but what if the ncp doesn't make any type of contact, but his mother does?
This is regarding my granddaughter, her and my daughter live with me. NCP has nothing to do with baby, but she is only 3 months old. NCP mother calls and harasses my daughter (cussing/hanging up) because my daughter will not let her come take baby overnight. We live in different towns. NCP mother is up for court end of this month for drug/weapon charges and has made comments about fleeing. My daughter always tells her no, she can't take her overnight, but she is welcome to come see her at anytime in our home. She calls about every other week, but has never come to see her. We are not ugly to her in any way, I could actually block her number from ringing into our home, but don't know how that could be viewed in court if NCP ever attempts, for whatever reason, to take granddaughter (NCP has no phone).
I know I've rambled, but my question is.....does these phone calls by NCP mother count for contact by NCP? She has never stated that is calling on his behalf, he is never mentioned.
Thanks. |
