Question

Adopted Cousin Marriages

What is the name of your state? ohio

I am a 24 year old woman. I have not talked to my real father in almost 10 years. For Christmas last year I let my mothers husband adopt me so he would feel more like a father because he has no children of his own and never will. I wanted him to feel important on the day I would get married instead of feeling like he was walking someone elses daughter down the isle.
Then the most unexpected and unbelievable thing happened.. I fell in love. I was going to school 3 hrs away from my family's small town and fell in love with a 28 yr old man that lived 2 streets over from me. The only catch.... He is my newly adopted fathers- brothers- son. The family now knows that we see eachother and mainly don't have an issue because we are unrelated by blood and didn't even grow up together.
I don't know the legal issues or the religious issues (Our family is Italian Roman Catholic, active) on this subject and would like some knowledge of these. Also I would like to know what anybodys views are on this.

Legally, Ohio doesn't allow marriage between 1st cousins, while other states do. Ohio allows marriage between 2nd cousins. I don't see a problem since you were adopted as an adult. Here is a link
