Adult age in Michigan Need help ASAP!

My daughter's girlfriend (she's 17) got kicked out of her house a couple days ago, and has been staying in my home since then. Her dad was abusive to her and she is afraid to go home. She sees a counselor (family) and she told her she does not have to go home.

Does she have to go home or not? And would I get in any legal trouble by having her stay here with me? We live in Michigan.

Please help ASAP!
