arranged marriage and the legality of it

I signed up for a website WWW.INDIANMARRIAGES.COM and to make it a short story found a man who agreed to marry me.In our culture we do not have a traditional marriage service and after exchange of photos, calls and videos we had a marriage performed with proxies.

He refered to me as his wife ,and I consider him my husband. It was then learned that I had cancer and I could not relocate to his country (USA ) because of my medical treatments. The calls were still coming ,the declaration of love was there and the relationship was a financial loss to me as I had sent him money many times.

He just told me a week ago that he is going to live common law with a woman in USA and that I should no longer come or call him. I have filled out a fiancee visa and gave him money to pay bills and also to move to a bigger place. Can you tell me what if anything I can do in this situation.Would any court there consider our marriage to be legal even though we have never physically met?

Thank you in advance.
