Babies Surname

I am currently living in Birmingham, Great Britain, with my boyfriend, and we have been together now for one and a half years.

I am expecting our first baby, Ethan and would like some advice on who's surname Ethan can have after he is born, I would prefer he have his fathers, but have been told by a friend that this is not possible to do if we are not married.

So if you could please advise me if our unborn son can be registered with his fathers surname even if we are not married I would be very greatful.

You can name the baby Baldoffershagnasty if you want.

You are the parents and can pick whatever name you wish.

I know of no prohibition on the use of your boyfriend's name.
