| Yes that answers my question. I was just told that the step parent had to go thru adoption to make him a step parent and I thought they were incorrect so I wanted to check. Thank you for your help. |

| No, going through an adoption would make him the child's ACTUAL parent. A stepparent is an honorary relationship based on the parent's marriage. It is not a legal relationship. Your husband would remain a legal stranger to the child.
