Brother Is A Menace To Society

What is the name of your state? North Carolina

My brother is a crack addict and a alcoholic. He is 26 years old and has a 4 year old daughter. He is not married but still lives at home w/ my father. He's been to rehab twice in a month but in all he's been in and out of rehab for 10 years. About three weeks ago he kept his daughter out all night while smoking crack in front of her and made her sleep in a car all night he did not feed her the whole night or change her clothes. This past weekend he stole my fathers car and totaled it. He's facing three DUI charges now and has had 7 previous convictions but money and small town lawyers have kept him out of prison. Is there a law that will allow a family memeber to have him committed to a mental institution involuntary and he must stay there! He's a danger to himself and society. Please respond. Thanks!

Have the child's mother file for an emergency order barring anything but supervised visitation for your brother for starters. If she's not in the picture - call CPS. Her welfare should be your first concern - then you can tackle his problems.

The child lives with her mother and is very well taken care of. She has no longer allowed any type of visitation with the child while he is in this condition.
