YesI believe a joint account is a joint account, any monies deposited in the joint account become joint property. And since California regards money acquired within a marriage to be joint assets, absent any written agreement otherwise, I think a spouse would be entitled to 50% of the settlement. But, I'm not a lawyer so I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me. Or not. |
