What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

My partner and I have a 2 year-old baby. He is very controlling and verbally abusive. His name is on her birth certificate and he also has the declaration of paternity. Can I take the baby with me when I leave? What is the first step I should take if I no longer want to be in this relationship? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Yes, you can take the baby when you leave. However, if you move out of state with the baby then it could get very problematic.
