change father's name on birth certificate

I live in California.
I want to change my daughter's name. I have the legal paperwork for name change, but there is nowhere to change the name of her father on her birth certificate. The women at the courthouse said there is no form for it. They said I would have to type something up on pleading paper. What would be the right wording to include in the petition and order? The current father has been proven by DNA not to be the dad, I am married to my daughter's biological dad, but should we spring for a DNA test anyway before we file? Dad on birth certificate is in prison in California. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
