Change of paternity I am 33 years old and live in Kentucky but was born in Ohio. My biological father did not want any part of my birth or upbringing. A friend of the family put his name on my birth certificate so it wouldn't have to go down as 'unknown'. My father died 20 years ago, but I have been in contact with my father's family for the last 17 years. We've developed very close relationships. I have aunts, uncles, cousins, and 3 half sisters and visit often. I have found a DNA testing company that can complete an accurate test using my father's two sisters, my mother, and myself. It's expensive but will yield results in the high 90's. The problem I'm running in to is my age. The Ohio Dept. of Health sent me to Probate Court. Probate Court said that it could only be done in Juvenile Court. My age seems to be the biggest obstacle I have to fulfilling this. It's very important to me for sentimental reasons to have my birth certificate corrected. The information listed on it is wrong. If nothing else, I would like the man's name that is currently on it taken off and have 'unknown' listed. What can I do? Thanks. |
