What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? kansas

My fiance and I weren't married when I had my son and his dad wasn't there. He was at basic training and couldn't be at the hospital so my son ended up w my last name. How do I go about changing his birth certificate once I go thru the courts to have his name changed ? Also, he was born in Tennessee and we live in Kansas now.

You are going about it backwards. You file to establish dad's paternity and as part of that case, you ask that the baby's last name be changed to dad's.
