| | | Children vs. Step-monster My father married Valerie about 10 or 11 years ago (I didn't know until much later, as I was not invited) in Hattiesburg, MS (Forrest County). At this time--he owed about $15,000 in child support and I believe had a warrant out for his arrest. Would this have prevented him from getting a marriage license? I guess what I'm really trying to ask is this: he died of lung cancer 5 years ago, now I and two of my siblings are fighting Valerie in court for our fair portion of his estate (which is quite large). In Texas, my home state, one is not allowed to get a marriage license if you owe any child support or have a warrant out for your arrest--is this the same in Mississippi? Thank you! |

| | As a stepparent, I feel no urge to dig around and find a legal answer for you, due to your irredeemable thread title.
I assume the urge you felt to name it thusly was joy enough.

Thank you! | Nope and I will let you know that you have NO ENTITLEMENT to any portion of his estate. Dad didn't have to leave you a single dime.
