i recently remarried and would like for everyone in the home to have the same last name. do I need the permission of my childrens father to hyphenate their last name with my current husband's last name? can i do this in new york without a court order?

The children's father will be informed when you petition to have their names changed. It will be up to him to contest it or not. How recently did you remarry?
