Civil vs. Religious Ceremony - Can I marry both ways

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NJ...I was married in civil ceremony but also want to now get married in the church. (to same person obviuosly) Is this allowed? Do I have to annul my civil marriage before getting married religiously? Have looked in many places for answer to this simple question.....Anyone able to answer this question? Thanks

Sure you can get married in Church as well. All it does is legitimize the marriage in the eyes of the Church and is not affected at all by your legal (civil) marriage.

I feel the need to very politely "kick your butt". Many people don't understand the difference between religious and civil marriages...particularly if they are from other countries. Its tacky to call them "stupid" if you don't know or understand the background from which they are coming.
