Colorado Law, Change last name of childWhat is the name of your state? Co. I am going to be getting married in the next year, and my wife to be has a child who's last name is not the same as hers. The father has nothing to do with the child at all, no support and never has seen the child but has his last name. I want my wife to be to keep her last name and have the child have the same last name as her. What is the law in colorado, or where can i look. |

If dad has been totally out of the picture for a long time (ie years) then mom may be able to change the child's last name....or she may not.

I'm still not going to research chapter/verse. But I'll give a hint -- if Mommy wants to change the child's name, then SHE can -- not future possible stepfather -- file for a change and explain her reasons to the court. ![]() And look! Potential stepdad is gone already. ![]()
