What is the name of your state? Louisiana
Does Louisiana recognize commonlaw marriage of elderly people?

strange laws

If you have been together ten years or longer check into a law called the
"Quadroon Mistress Law" It is rarely used but entitles the woman to 10% of the estate. As you can tell it is an old law but worth checking into.
