common law marriage rights

I was recently in a car accident and am looking at a 200,000 settlement due to the permanent damage I incurred. At the time of the accident my common-law husband and I were splitting up, we got back together after but I think he might have just been interested in the money since he's never been this nice to me before. If we were to split up now is he entitle to half my settlement, or if it's after the money comes and I buy a house is he entitled to half. Will I have to pay him alimony because of this money. I have 3 kids and he has one - if we stay together and I die first can I make it so that the house goes 3/4 to my kids and 1/4 to his (so that his daughter alone doesn't get a full half).

what STATE...every state is different.....

and how do you know you are common law?

did you take his last name? do you have savings, bank accounts, and property or filed tax returns using his name?

If not then you are JUST 2 SINGLE PEOPLE SHARING THE BILLS!!!!

And he would be entitled to ZIP NADA ZERO**************

If perchance you were common law married he would only be entitled to possibly share in the pain and suffering award...not the medical award.

So that is a BIG HINT to get as much as you can assigned to the medical part of your settlement.
