Custody of a 17 year old


What is the name of your state? Ohio
i have a 17 yr old daughter who doesn't want to live with me. the police are at my house every weekend because of the fighting or for her running away. her dad refuses to have her live with him. i have full custody of her. can a 19 yr old have custody of her till she is 18 yrs old? can i sign over custody of her to the 19 yr old?

My response:

You cannot abrogate the court's orders, on your own, concerning your responsibility of custody by merely "signing over" your lawful duties to someone else. You cannot merely "sign away" your lawful duties until such time as the court changes its own order concerning your duties.

Your 17 year old daughter can go live with the 19 year old if that's what you want; however, you remain liable for her actions because of the court order.
