I have a question. Two weeks ago I found out my daughter, who is ten, has an aggressive cancer. Her biological father, lets start in beginning, never was around and his mother asked me not to put his name on birth certificate. Since he wasn't around anyway, I did. I have always raised her by myself. I have never received child support. I never kept her from seeing his mother or him when he was around, which was next to nothing until a couple of years ago. During this time I let her go and spend two weekends a month with him. I was going to give her his last name and he said no and pitched a fit and said he wasn't going to pay child support and if I wanted child support, my daughter would not see him again. which he also told her this and she was upset and asked me not to put her daddy in jail. So i left it alone, besides I never needed him, I just thought he'd like her to have his name. So now back to now, like I said my daughter has a severe illness and I found out that he has flyers out everywhere with her picture and what she has and asking for donations to be sent to him or his account to help her. I take sole care of her, I take her to all dr.'s appt.'s even to her specialist that is 5 hours away. I am at all surgeries and I stay with her in the hospital, I feed her and take care of her and is there for her. I am the one who takes her to chemo and stays the whole week with her, and takes care of her when she's sick. AND I don't ASK for any money or sympathy, all I ask for is pray, please pray. Now since he is doing this, and planning on doing in nearby town, he hasn't offered any (not that I would take it) nor has he put any to use for my daughter. I did run an ad in paper, because people was calling me and wanting to know where to send, that the family of my daughter due to illness requests all donations be made to childrens hospital. Anyway I don't think this is right for him to have financial gain over my daughters sake. He does not work. I asked him to not do this for me and my daughters sake and I thought it wasn't right. He said he didn't care, he was doing it for her and when she is better then he is going to give it to her and they are going to go somewhere and celebrate. He knows she might not make it. I think he is a lowlife. What can I do to stop this? The lies are not right. Like I said I have sole custody, and his name is not on birth certificate and she does not have his name, he is lieing and saying he needs money to help her cuz he doesn't have it or insurance(I have insurance for her, great insurance) and using her name and picture for his gain. I also do not want his money that he has already received, i think he should donate to hospital. What can I do? How do I go about stopping this evil man? thanks for all info and help

You can certainly talk with your local police about possible fraud charges.

You might also consider contacting the local news media. The issues you raise, the personal involvement.... just the nature of this issue alone, would likely be of great interest to them..... especially the consumer investigators. Publicity would certainly stop his efforts to defraud the public..... and his daughter.

And if they don't take action at this time, get one of the flyers and keep it. Then, after all the bills have been accumulated, ask him for the money he has collected on her behalf or that it be paid directly to the hospital. If he refuses or fails, that in itself would be fraud..... and contact the police again.

I just wanted to add that also I do not like the fact that my daughter is put out in the public like that. This is not an enjoyment and I am having a hard enough time dealing with it without having it smacked in my face if I go to the store or town.

Recently in Indiana, a woman shaved her daughters' head and hauled her around to all the churches asking for donations for her cancer related hospital bills. It turned out to be a big scam. Mom was jailed and the little girl was taken away from her mother by the courts.

I would definitely turn this low-life piece of trash in to the police.

Holy cow, just when you think you've heard it all!!!! That gave me shivers!! I'd be down at the police station so fast you wouldn't see my tires moving. What a tragedy, what a bum.

It happened here in the Detroit area a while back too, more than once. One case was the mother, one case was the father, in both cases they got caught.

Well, I really need to know if I need a lawyer and what exactly would be the name of the reason of why I need one? whew! that was sort of hard to get out. Okay, seen flyer went to police, must have been family or something. couldn't do anything about it. Said how do we know he is not father. Duh! look at last name. I said I have the birth certificate. So, that does not really say much, names can be added and that may not be orignal, do you have court papers? now why would I have court papers saying he isn't father? okay? Am I the looney one here or what? Please give some advice

call your local news papers, and TV stations and get your word out... they will put a stop to him I dont see you needing a lawyer unless your planning on filing suit against him to stop him... I would think the media would do that for you... go talk to a reporter or two...

No ma'am, none at all. He choses not to and is fine by me, but I did offer to and refused saying he didn't want to pay child support and even told my daughter that I was going to put him in jail and so and so and had her all upset and mad at me. No his name is not on birth certificate, no she does not have his last name, no dna never done, no affidavit.
