did not get served - divorce custody issue

What is the name of your state? Kentucky

I live in Florida and had a divorce cutody case pending in KY courts since 1996(custody was the main issue). I just found out this weekend, while talking to x husband, that our case has been finalized in 02/2001. I called the clerks ofc in Ky today and they verified this. My question is: Can anything be done due to the fact that I was not served a motion or order or final judgement?
I did not have an attorney during the year 2000-2001 as we hadn't had any court appearances at the time. My address had always been the same since 1996. I asked the clerks office if these papers were served to me and she said that they did show that they were mailed to my address. DO they have to send them certified mail to me or can they just state on the papers that they did send a copy????
I have always travelled to KY for all court appearances prior and there were a lot of them(most on my insistance to get visitation enforced). WHy would they assume I wouldn't show now and finalize everything in his favor, including sole custody, visitation based on a psychologists recommendation, and a $8000
judgement I have only seen my daughter 3 times in 2 years and only for a day at a time.

Any advice on what to do now???
