is divorce a contract?What is the name of your state? Calif i lived in calif but the divorce was in texas.. i just want to know if a divorce is a contract and each party must abid to it and if it can go to a civil court if things didnt not proceed correctly. I guess what im saying is can i sue the other party for breach of contract? |

| A divorce decree is a court order that all parties in the order must abide by. You wouldn't sue someone for breach of contract over a divorce degree. You'd file contempt of court charges on them if they didn't follow the court's order.
