Do I have to let extended family visit my children?

What is the name of your state? Kentucky

My husband and I are separated, and I plan to file for divorce. I insist that his sister not be allowed to have contact with our children. I will be the custodial parent. Am I allowed to say who can and cannot have contact with the children as long as I am compliant with letting their dad have visitation?

You cannot tell DAD who he can have the children see, or who they all see, during Dad's time with HIS kids.

You CANNOT control who their Dad CHOSES to have them around.....

So what if you don't like the sister...you don't have to talk, see or have anything ever to do with her again if you CHOSE too. BUT Dad can ALLOW them to see her, talk to her on HIS time with the children if he CHOSES too. Get it?

You'll be named the custodial parent, not the QUEEN parent. So no, you cannot keep the Sis from seeing the kids. In fact, it's a good thing you asked on this forum instead of before a judge. Cause Judges probably see enough of this nonsense. You would have gotten such a spanking in court that you wouldn't have been able to sit for a week.

don't judge too soon!!!

I am asking for a REASON. This sister, who lives with the mother where my husband will be with our kids, is a heroin addict, has two communicable diseases, and leaves her purse with heroin needles lying around where the children can get them. I could go on and on and on, but I think you may get the point. Geez, I'm not trying to be an ultra controlling bitch, just protect my children. Maybe finding this 'legal' advice here wasn't such a good idea!

It's a pity that you are too emotional (? I guess it's "emotional" ) to grasp the legal lesson given.

That doesn't make it 100% true. Feel free to consult with a local attorney to check.

Most people would give their reasons upfront instead of deciding to release them when it's convenient.

If you can PROVE that the sister is a danger to the children, a provision can have supervised visits with the sister. The key is PROOF.

You were not here for information, you were here for validation. Big difference.
