Domestic partnership same-sex only or opposite-sex over 62What is the name of your state? OR So my company annouced that they are going to have domestica partnership benefits. Finally...Well the only problem is that I'm in an opposite-sex relationship so I can't add her to my benefits. I spoke with my HR about it and they said I have the option of being married vs the same-sex domestic partnership, so I would have to be married in order to add her. Well I would like to not be married due to all the issues I have seen in the past on divorce with friends and family. I would like to have a domestic partnership and be covered under my companies benefits. So here are my questions: 1. How can my company (headquartered in CA) only offer these to same-sex partners and opposite-sex partners over 62? I feel sexual discrimination and an age discrimination at this point. 2. If pre-nup agreements can be overturned by the courts anyway, how can I protect my assets in the case of a divorce? 3. I'm looking to purchase a house with about 50K of my own money and my significant other has no money to put down. If we get married she could leave after lets say 2 years and basically get 25K for free. How do I protect this from happening? Thanks in advance. |

| I wish you would litigate this; I think your company is 100% wrong in denying benefits to opposite-sex couples. That is illegal discrimination.
