What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? DC
Dos anyone know what the common law marriage laws are in DC? I have lived with a person (of the opposite sex) for over 2 years, and have been left in a difficult situation. Want to know what my rights are. |

The elements of common-law marriage in the District of Columbia are an express mutual agreement, which must be in words of the present tense, followed by cohabitation as husband and wife.
