Question

emancipation for a 16 yr old? (Los Angeles, CA)

How would a 16 and a half yr old go about getting emancipated in Los Angeles County?

I have a friend that's under age and having problems living with her step-father. Shes a very good kid, she ended up running away from home because of verbal and some physical abuse from the step-father. I have witnessed that she was hit by the man before he was the step-father (only the mother's boyfriend at the time)

I feel really bad, I hate to see the poor girl in that situation.
She has run away from home, the mother and the step father reported her as a ran away to the local police dept, and now she is floating at different friends houses evading the police.
(I have not taken her in or know her exact location)

Any information to get the paper work started would be helpful.
The nearest Superior Court located near us is in Long Beach, CA.
I would really like to let her know how to get the process started.
