Question

emancipation

Hello,

I have a question that isn't answered in the FAQ area. I can't find any answers on any other site. Hope you can help.
My daughter who is now 16, she will be 17 soon, wants to become emancipated. She is 16...going on 25, very mature for her age. She is an excellent student and a great daughter. She wants to be emancipated because we (my husband, my 3 year old son and I are moving to AZ). She wants to stay here and go to college. She has a good job and can support herself. She has a step sister here who is 21 years old who she spends lots of time with. She lives part-time with her sister. She has investigated this on her own, but can't get any answers as to the procedures and paperwork needed. She feels she needs to be emancipated so she can get college grants, based on her income instead of ours, and she can't sign a lease unless she is 18, or emancipated.
So, can you send us in the right direction and help her get emancipated?
Thank you,

Theresa Hilton
