Emancipation in Florida

Florida
I am 16 and want to join a religious order in Spain where I will finish my studies.
But my parents want me to stay till I am 18.
Emancipation laws seem to require their consent.
Is this true, can I emancipate myself without their consent?
I know, this sounds weird, as every other teen wants to go out
into the world to do whatever they feel like it.
Me, I just want to follow the calling God has set for me.
Please help me out.

When you are 18 you can do what you want. until then you are a minor and live under mom and dad's roof. Unless you can support yourself completely -- have a job, place to live that you pay for and what not -- you cannot be emancipated.

Do you realize that you won't be able to do that without their consent? How are you going to get an apartment? You are going to need their permission. Not to mention that if you could get emancipated the courts would probably take until you were 18 anyway.

I couldn't help it, I had to. Not legal advice but...

Ok, you want to become emancipated to do the work of God and you want to do so without your parents consent.

God would want you to wait until you are 18, if that what your parents say.

10 Commandments.

5. Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long.

Not as simple...

My parants want me to give them grandchildren and do everything to trash my vocation.
The whole world tells me I am crazy and even my insticts. But I don't care. I am called to this and I say I'm ready, and so do my superiors. I won't be another priest who has done everything in the book. I am dedicating my life now and if my parents want to do their will, fine the law lets them, but God doesn't and it would be their fault not mine.
I imagine you don't get this, but I don't expect you to, you would have have to be in my shoes.

THANKS ANYWAYS, AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Oh brother!!!!

Look...no one here is condemning your faith or goals in life.

If God wants you at 16...he'll wait and call back when you are 18. Put your mission on hold for a couple of years.

You don't need to be. Consider this a test of your Faith. It is not unnatural for parents to wish for their children to carry on the line - especially if it is an only child or an only son. (Even more so if it is an only child who is a son!)

Your calling is admirable. However, it is not an easy one, and now is the time to begin learning that.
