engagement ringWhat is the name of your state? RI I have a question about an engagement ring. I was married once before, I had a ring from the that marriage and kept. I got engaged last year and traded that ring in plus I also put a deposit of $2000 for the new ring because at the time my fiancee didnt have the money. He did pay the rest for the ring which was about $3,500. Well we broke up and I still have the ring, but he insists I sell it and we split the difference. What do you think it fair. I did turn in an old ring and added almost as much as he did for it. |

| figure out what percentage each of you contributed to the purchase of the ring. Sell it and each of you get that percentage of the sale price. |

I was reading a case that was filed February 23, 2006 in Rhode Island Superior Court and it was a similar (man didn't pay all the cost of the ring). Although there was property and a house involved, he was awarded the amount of money he had into the ring. http://pub.bna.com/fl/05995.pdf |

| Just be aware that on a resale basis, you will be lucky if you get 20% of the original price that you paid for the ring. |
