Ex Girlfriend is suddenly wanting money..advice please

What is the name of your state?

I live in London but am wanting some general advice:

Can someone please give me some advice on a situation my boyfriend is facing. His ex girlfriend of 11 years has rung up out of the blue after being broke up for about 10 months or more, and has said that he owes her £2000.00 in cash.

He has told her he doesn't owe anything and the only reason she has said she wants it, is in regards to buying a car. She did not officially loan him any money in which it was stated that he should pay her back and nothing was paid that would not be normal in a relationship.

My feelings are that she has somehow added up little amounts over the 11 years they were an item and has decided that these should now be paid back. She did not at any time during their relationship say this should be so and when they did break up she did not say immediatly that any money she may have given should be paid back... she only called months after and when she needed it.

Does my boyfriend have a leg to stand on if she were to take him to court or vice versa?

Is there a way he can convince her to stop harrassing him about it via legal means?

Thanks for your time.

This forum is for US laws only.

(Remember, you are only getting his side of the story and 11 years together is a long time, but this is his issue, not yours.)

True, US law only. So use the internet to look up the law in the UK regarding loans, and find out what the maximum amount is for what we call small claims court in the UK.

In the meantime, he should tell her to go pound sand.
