What is the name of your state? Maryland
My mom has been separated from my Dad for over 30 yrs but both agreed they did not want a divorce. My mom kept the house and then decided to give her house up to help my sister get a house. The problem is my mom agreed to buying the house for my sister in her name and my niece's. My sister does not allow her to cook or entertain. My sister filed bankrupcy and because she is divorced went back to her maiden name. She has now opened credit in my father's name, acting as his wife. This credit has gone into collections. My Dad not wanting her to get into trouble, just accepts it. My mom wants to know what her rights are as she feels if anything happens to my Dad, she will be responsible for this mess my sister is causing to their credit. When my sister gets angry with her she threatens her by saying you need to leave my house. My mom is very threatened by this and feels she has no options and no where to go. my sister would not have been able to get the house without her. Because my Dad allows her to use credit in his name, what rights do my mom have? How do she get out of this mess? Do I need to take her to an attorney?
