Father never signed Birth CertificateWhat is the name of your state? Ohio I had my daughter when I was 18 I was married for a few months before I had her. I never changed my name or social and on my daughter birth certificate I filled out her name and signed it. My husband at the time never signed her birth certificate but I did put his name as the father. I was wondering since he has never claimed paternity and does not wish to see her at all can I remove his name from the birth certificate. My daughter is 11 years old now he wants nothing to do with her and all letters I send out to him are returned unopened and postal marked.I have kept the letters and a journal for years now. We have been legally divorced for 6 years and seperated 9 years. I have no other way to contact him. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks |

| You were married at the time of the birth thus he is the legal father whether or not you chose to adopt his surname. All this should have been addressed during your divorce and you should be receiving child support whether or not he has visitation. |

| What does your divorce decree state regarding his paternity/CS obligation, etc?

| Are you asking if his parental rights can be terminated? If so, some states allow that whenever a parent goes missing. Call the juvenile office in your county and ask them. In some states, the action for parental rights termination starts with the juvenile office. If that was not your question, then clarify what it is you want to know. |
