What is the name of your state?Florida.

I want to get married to my boyfriend of 5 years. He is 16 about to turn 17 and I am 17 about to turn 18. Can I marrying him in Mississippi and it be legal even though I am citizen of Florida?

do not get married this young!!! I can almost guarantee you, you will be divorced before you're 20 and hopefully you would not have had children by then

sorry the race card does not work with me I don't care if he's purple, advising you to get married or telling you how is in no way actually helping you. Most people (almost all) who marry young end up divorced, and if they had children then their kids get dragged through a mess. it's not worth it. you guys should be concentrating on graduating from high school.

how would you guys even support yourselves?
teenagers have restricted hours they can work during the school year (I think it's 24 hours a week) so combined you could possibly work 48 hours per week at a entry level (because you have no real marketable skills, not even HSD) job for maybe 7-9 dollars per hour, so giving you the higher rate of 9 dollars per hour your combined gross would be $432 per week (if you were able to get all the hours available to you) after taxes it's more like $300 per week, so multiplied by the accepted 4.3 is $1290.00 per month

minus $500 for rent = $790,( and that's if you can find a landlord to allow two people under 18 to sign a legally binding lease)
minus $100 for utilities = $690,
minus food for the month $200 (conservative est.) = $490,
minus $40 for cable/ internet (because no one your age can live w/o it) = $450,
minus $60 for household goods (laundry soap, I assume you already own a washer or dryer otherwise add at least $40 per month for laundromet) = $390,
minus $40 per month for his/her toilletries = $350,
minus $160 per month auto gas and maintenance, 2 cars (again I assume that you both are already so far ahead of the game you own your own cars outright and do not have a car payment) = $190,
minus $ 200 per month auto insurance = oops you have run out of money,

and where is your health insurance,
and where is even a meager entertainment budget,
guess you also won't be needing ANY new clothes or shoes for at least a year or so,
and god forbid you make a mistake with the check book (oh wait, you're not 18, can you even have a checkbook?) and have to start dealing with overdraft and nsf check fees,
and of course cars never breakdown right?

see where I'm going here? you guys would be starting divorce proceeding in a year, just over money, not even mentioning that you haven't had a chance to really figure out who you are yet.

just wait....

I got that

[font=Book Antiqua]Both of us are already graduated from school we both work 40 hours a week 80 hours combined. I have at income of $700 a week and he has a an income of $900 a week. Our apartment is only $400 every 3 months. I have a car that is brand new and I have already paid it off and I have insurance. I understand that you are concerned but we have really and truly thought this out and now all we want to do is get married. I understand that MOST young marriages end in divorce but I can bet that in 55 years we will still be married and still be in just as much love then as we are now. Thank you soooo much for your advice though...but now i am look for a real answer on if it would be legal or not...if it wouldnt be we can wait until we are 18 and 19. [b] And in my bank I opened an account when I was 14 and I have a check book and I pay taxes and I am an accounting personal at a University. I have everything you can think of planned out. I have health insurance thru my job and him thru his. I have everything you though of plus more thought of.

Mississippi does not require either of you to be residents. You must be 15, he needs to be at least 17. You will need your parents' consent:

Quote:
Parental consent is needed in Mississippi if under 21 years of age. If parents or guardians do not give consent at time of application, they will be notified via certified mail. The marriage application will be held for three (3) days. Marriage licenses cannot be issued to males under 17, or females under 15 years of age. If the clerk receives a signed authorization from the parents, this minimum age requirement can be waived.
In addition, there is a 72 hour waiting period from the time the license is issued until the wedding can take place.

All that said? Dumbass idea.

I have been on my own since I was 14 and he has been living with his mom who is a prostitue. We made a life and now we are making it legal. Thanks we will wait until we are both 18 that way neither one of our families destroy our marriage

Actually, it's exactly what I'd tell any kid who had this plan. Mine or someone else's. Actually, it was probably nicer than what I'd say to any kid standing in front of me.

I'm wondering if the reason you want to get married in Mississippi is because you think you can get married there without parental consent?

There's all kinds of misinformation on the internet regarding the age of which one can get married in Mississippi without parental consent. The sites below, all state that age is 15 for a female/17 for a male. THAT IS INCORRECT! In Mississippi you have to be *21* (it's the oldest age requirement in the entire US) to get married without parental consent. You can get married at 15/17 *with* parental consent.

I'll even go a step further. Until you can put the above into coherent English? You shouldn't even be out of school, let alone playing house with your boyfriend.

Excuse me?

Who said anything about "banging". I am still a virigin and i plan on staying one until I am married, whenever that comes. So is he. I am graduated from school because I met all requirements and I applied for early admission at a Unviersity where I have a full scholarship. He is the same way. The reason I wanted to get married in Mississippi was because of the information, but now that i know the real answer i will wait until we are 18 or 19 and get married with a real wedding and everything in Florida. Plus the whole $100 bet on if the marriage will last a year. I will give you my address if you would like to send me the money now. I am NOT living with him, I am living ALONE. I am NOT banging him and he is not banging ME. So whatever distorted ideas you have in your head are incorrect and uncalled for! Thanks for the advice at having to be 21 to get married.
