Fraudulent Life Insurance

I was divorc3ed form my ex last year. In the final agreement I am entitled to ask for proof of benficiary designation form. Lat year I dealt with the parent company and had not problems. this yeqr I sent thema letter and received a callo form my ex's head of Human Resources saying all info on Florida employees is in tampa. I had to deal with her.

I expressed to bth her and the parent company that due to the problems in dealing with Florida in the past ( she in particular) I ws not happy. HOwever, she insisted I had to. She sent me a letter stating that fact and along with it were th4e ben3eficiary designation forms.

Something knawed at my gut. I called the insurqance company to discover the policy for the company in Florida had terminated in 1997. The polilcy for the paent company wa cancelled by them in Aug. 2001.

I had never been sent my COBRA info. Ex told me he had taken care of it. Human Resources said she had mailed it twice to ex's address and received it backi saying Moved left no Forwarding Address. How could I I never lived there. Ex has trouble rememberign who he lived with -where. YOu mena t6o tell me she did not tell the President of the Company the papers were undeliverable. Sure I discovered I did not have medical insurance until I went to fill a prescription after surgey for a brain tumor. I took him to court and becasue he told the judge he ws able to have arrangements for me to pay all the baqck papyemtns I could have COBRA> HE had told me the fall before he hd TAKEN CARE OF IT. I thanked him. HE did take care of it by making sure I did not get the papers. I had ot come up with almost $4000 ina matter of days.

He is President of the comapny in Flolrida. I know I have a recourse i( or hope I do) in family court). Does anyone know if there is a govt agency who I can contact about this. Also, I am considering filing harrassment charges against the company. HOw do I find a lawyer who will do this on a contingency basis.
