Gaurdianship Help Needed Please

What is the name of your state? Texas

My husband has a 15 yr old daughter that has chosen to live with her maternal grandmother. She has gotten into some trouble at school, the last which has caused her to be arrested for drug possesion on school property. Her grandmother wants mu husband to sign power of attorney over to her so that she could claim state aid. My question is: Is there any way to give the grandmother legal guardianship she wishes to have without us being held responsible for the actions my step daughter takes. My husband already has an agreement to pay $300 a month child support. He doesn't wish to give up his parental rights to her but the grandmother and his daughter keep insisting we sign the power of attorney. Please help us with some guidance as to where we should begin with this. Thank You

Q: Is there any way to give the grandmother legal guardianship she wishes?

A: Yes, and you need to see a lawyer for all the rest of the details.
