| Getting my "stuff" out of Mom's house What is the name of your state? NJ
Mom passed on about 3 yrs ago, leaving the house to my brother who lives there. Problem is that he changed the locks on the door (which I had a key), and I am unable to take my belongings which I had in my previously used bedroom and storage area. After several attempts to reason with my brother during the first year or so (he said he would let me know when I can come and get the items), he refuses to allow me in, keeping my things "hostage". Although the items (such as books, papers, appliances, personal belongings, etc. ) are not particularly valuable (perhaps under $2000), they are more sentimental in value to me.
Do I now have to take him to court? Is there any statute of limitations? (family counseling has not worked) thanks
