this is for south dakota. daughter and boyfriend have 18 month old. both have very bad history in reguards to paying bills and bad checks. many thousands of dollars in debt. its only a matter of time before daughter is put in jail. what can we do to get that baby. we do not want her to go to a foster home or stay with the dead beat dad. thanks, sydh.

foster homes are a last resort. they are used when there is no other place to place the child. you will have the option to take in your grandchild should things come to this. dispite our opinions of dad he has rights to his daughter. consider talking to your daughter about her and her boyfriend appointing you a guardianship over your grandchild or you can apply for it yourself.
