grandmother's rightsWhat is the name of your state? Illinois My grandmother is near eighty and becoming very senile. My aunts and mother have decided to place her in a nursing home without her knowledge or consent. I am very anti-nursing home. I would take her into my home and even hire a private nurse if it came to that extreme. What rights do my grandmother or I have in this situation? I am afraid that as next of kin, her daughters can do what they want.... |

| At the moment you have no rights. HOWEVER, you need to contact a family law attorney if you want to have any chance to care for granny. You want an attorney who will file a Guardian Ad Litem action petitioning the court for you to accept guardianship for granny and a conservator for her estate. |
