My ex-husband's parents took me to court and won visitation rights with my children approx. 2 years ago. Thier visitation was to coinside with the father's. The father has been in and out of jail during the past 2 years and is currently out of the state by his choice. My son has anger issues and possibly some mental instability and is receiving treatment. If I believe the grandparents are doing more harm than good, can I stop visitation?

My response:

Obviously, this current order was rendered prior to Troxel vs. Granville, and therefore, Troxel is not controlling.

You can't stop the court-ordered visitation on your own. You must go back to court and prove "substantial change of circumstances" that is affecting your son as a result of the visitation, and that such visitation is no longer in the best interests of your son.

This would be an uphill battle.
