guardianship of younger sister?

What is the name of your state? Ohio. Sister is in MI
My younger sister (25 yrs old) is not mentally compentent and can not take care of herself. She is a diagonsed bi-polar manic- depressive. And she refuses to take her medication. Hence she can not hold a job, can not pay her bills, heck she even goes through periods when she doen't even bathe as needed.

She needs help but she will not get it on her own. She went to see a social worker last week and caused a scene in the waiting room, accusing the receptionst of touching her breast when all the lady did was hand her a pen. While at the social workers office she did not make any threats, hence he couldn't lock her up any where. His suggestion was to make her homeless and send her to a shelter, they would be able to lock her up if she caused problems in the shelter.

My mom is at her wits end, she can't force her child into a homeless shelter, but she also can not go on dealing with my younger sister's behavior. She has spoken with an attorney and the only idea he had was for my mother to apply for gaurdianship, and then my mom could force her into treatment.

My question is, is there any other way to force my sister to get help with out my mom having to take her to court to get gaurdianship of her? Both my mom and my sister have been through so much already, but my sister needs help!

Thanks for your responsesWhat is the name of your state?

The Baker Act which MUST be done by a psychiatrist and is used when a person is a danger to him/herself or a danger to others.
