his and hers

i live in north carolina my girlfriend in another state and we have a joint checking account together in north carolina and she wants to split up with me and told me in an email to close account and keep the monies.can i do this legaly?

You can't remove a second person from their status on the account without their signature; however, you can close the account all by yourself.
